Any true coffee lover will tell you that the determining feature of a coffee machine is not the price. Quality comes at a price, but the Nespresso coffee machines have an option for everyone, regardless of budget. It comes down to choosing a coffee machine that produces your favorite hot brew with all the right features.
To help narrow down this choice, we are going to look at two ranges from Nespresso, the Nespresso Inissia vs VertuoLine. We will look at the different machines within the range and the specifications for each one. After reviewing some pros and cons of the Nespresso Inissia and the Nespresso VertuoLine, we will decide which is the best.
We will start by going over the Nespresso Insissia and what exactly you can expect from this coffee machine.
To recap on the specifications of the Nespresso Insissia and the Nespresso Vertuo Line, we have a side-by-side chart.
There is only one coffee machine in the Insissia line, but this does come in red, black, or silver. The coffee machines are 4.7 x 9 x 12.6 inches and weigh 5.29 pounds. There is a small handle to help easily move the unit around. On the back of the machine, there is a 24-ounce removable water tank.
This is one of the Nespresso original coffee machines and so takes the original capsules. These capsules are designed to be used with the 19-bar pressure of the Insissia, with perfect brewing conditions for each unique original capsule. There are over 30 varieties from coffees like the Barista creations to World explorations. You brew two cup sizes, the 1.35-ounce espresso or a 5-ounce lungo at the press of a button.
The compact coffee machine has a used capsule container that holds 10 capsules. You will be pleased to know that the capsules are recycled, and you can sign up for the recycling program. It takes just 25 seconds to heat up and after 9 minutes of not being used, it will automatically switch off, saving energy.
There are seven coffee machines in this line. Let’s take a closer look at each.
Nespresso Vertuo Plus
There are three color options, black, red, or white. They are 12.8 x 5.6 x 14.1 inches and weigh 10 pounds. The coffee machines have a removable 40-ounce water tank that can be rotated to sit on the left, right, or behind.
The coffee machines take the Vertuo capsules and again, there is a wide range of coffee flavors with over 35 capsules. You can select strong, bold coffees or specialty flavors like the popular vanilla custard. There are four coffee sizes, 1.35oz and 2.7oz espressos, 5oz, and a larger 7.7oz cup. With a barcode on each capsule, the machines read the code and automatically adjust the parameters for that type of coffee. It will adjust the coffee size, temperature, pressure, and brewing time all at the touch of one button.
It takes just 15 seconds for the Nespresso Vertuo Plus to heat up. The used coffee capsules are automatically ejected into a container that holds 17 used capsules. They also have an automatic switch-off after 9 minutes of not being used.
Nespresso Vertuo Plus Deluxe
The Vertuo Plus Deluxe is incredibly similar to the Vertuo Plus models. They are the exact same size, but you can choose from black, silver, or titan. The main features of the coffee machines are also the same. There are four coffee sizes, and the machines will read a barcode on the capsule to automatically adjust the brewing parameters.
Even the heat up time and automatic switch-off are the same. The only real difference is the larger 60-ounce water tank.
Nespresso Vertuo Next
The Next line is one of the newest ranges of Nespresso coffee machines. They are 5.5 x 16.9 x 12.4 inches and weigh 9 pounds. Color options include black, dark chrome, gray, white, cherry red, or matte black with rose gold. There is a 37-ounce water tank on the back of the coffee machine.
The technology is just like the Plus coffee machines. They take the Vertuo coffee capsules and will automatically adjust the coffee size, temperature, pressure, and brewing time. You can get a better range of cup sizes from single and double espressos to 5, 8, and 18-ounce coffees. The capsules will automatically eject, and the auto switch-off kicks in after 2 minutes.
Aside from the one-touch operation, you can connect the Nespresso Vertuo Next to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
Nespresso Vertuo Next Premium
There are a few differences between this and the standard model. The size and weight are the same but there aren’t as many colors options; just black or brown. The water tank has the same capacity, and the used capsule container will hold 10 capsules, and all other features are identical except for a 14oz coffee size instead of the 18oz.
Nespresso Vertuo Next Deluxe
As you can imagine, there isn’t a great deal of difference. Once again, the size and weight are the same but here, we have the choice of dark chrome or matte black. The water tank has the same capacity, as does the used capsule container.
It uses the same Vertuo technology, so it will read the barcodes and adjust the brewing parameters. The best thing about this coffee machine is that it can brew 5 coffee sizes. There is the option to brew single and double espressos, 5oz, 8oz, 14oz, and 18oz coffees. It also seems to be a little more reliable than the previous Next coffee machines.
